Lisa Lund brings over four decades of creative exploration and artistic dedication to her work. With a lifelong passion for the arts, she has cultivated a diverse and evolving practice, experimenting across multiple mediums and techniques throughout her career.
In addition to her work as an artist, Lisa has played an active role in the art community as a gallery owner in the Pacific Northwest, where she supported and promoted fellow artists while continuing to develop her own voice.
Her artwork is deeply influenced by the landscapes and environments she has called home. Having lived in South Dakota, Idaho, Montana, and Washington, Lisa draws inspiration from the distinct character, light, and natural beauty of each region. These varied surroundings are reflected in her pieces, which often evoke a strong sense of place and connection to the land.
After moving to the Southwest, Lisa’s artistic style shifted dramatically to reflect her new surroundings. It was here that her journey with metal embossing began— an evolution that grew out of her early exploration with alcohol inks. Her love of texture naturally drew her to embossing, a process that allows her to create richly tactile, dimensional works. As she often says, viewers are welcome to touch her art.
Each piece begins with a mini canvas painted to complement the chosen metal foil— aluminum, brass, or copper. The foil is placed between textured folders and run through a rolling mill, imprinting intricate patterns. Lisa then applies alcohol inks using a variety of techniques, building layers of color and depth. Once dried, the surface is lightly sanded to reveal the raised relief and highlight the design.
From there, she develops a theme or color story, cutting and arranging the embossed pieces—often in intuitive, puzzle-like compositions where each element must fit perfectly. The result is a harmonious balance of color, texture, and form.
Every piece Lisa creates is a one-of-a-kind original. She hopes that viewers experience as much joy in seeing her work as she does in creating it.
